The concept of an English Laboratory is definitely new but an absolute necessity. In spite of studying in schools where English is the medium of instruction, there is a significant lack of command over the language, fluency and communication skills. This could be as most children tend to think in the language they converse in at home (their mother tongue) and then translate their thoughts to English.

To develop strong language skills, children must have a strong understanding of grammar and an extensive vocabulary. At Wordcreek, children learn phonetics, reading, cursive writing, grammar and practice vocabulary and  speaking skills. They are given a strong foundation in grammar which is the core essence of mastering any language.

Learning English the right way:

It is important to study a balance of the four major skills. Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing are the main (macro) skills you need to communicate in any language. Being very good at only one of these skills will not help you to communicate. For example you need to be able to read well before you can write well. You also need to be able to listen before you can speak.

People have been learning foreign languages for a very long time. Many find this task effortless and enjoyable, for several others it is often a journey fraught with frustration, anguish and annoyance.
To help master a foreign language, numerous methods have been devised, that have seen limited success at best. What was needed was a technique which is based on the natural progression of a child’s linguistic skills development in his/her mother tongue.

In order to enhance the linguistic knowledge that facilitates the use of the to-be-mastered tongue, in day to day communication, the learning process has to be validated and substantiated with scientific research. In this constant endeavour, Positivo Informatica Brazil, has developed an innovative programme, named E-Blocks, a programme for teaching English to children between the ages of 2.5 and 12 years.

At Wordcreek, this programme is used to teach English in a fun way along with the curriculum designed by Mrs. Kalpana Rao to teach English as a language.

In the unconventional environment at Wordcreek, children realise learning can be fun.

Children also have access to a reading area with a library of almost 2,000 books where they are encouraged to cultivate the habit of reading. Here the emphasis is greatly on children reading books in their physical form as opposed to their electronic versions (ebooks).Love for reading is inculcated right from the age of 2 ½.
